Böses und Blaues
Under the label Böses und Blaues, Friedhelm Maria Leistner presents small-scale artworks and objects that he crafts from used or found materials. These include antique gold frames for which he specifically paints new motifs – often humorous or quirky animals on an intense ultramarine blue background. The visible signs of wear on the frames are not considered flaws, but rather an essential component of the work: they carry on the history of the objects and are consciously incorporated. In the shop, Leistner also displays hand-painted and hand-printed clothing, consisting mostly of second-hand textiles like T-shirts. Through painting, coloring, and printing, he transforms these used pieces into one-of-a-kind items – a fusion of art object and wearable design. This approach vividly brings the concept of reuse to life, both conceptually and materially. Another aspect of his creative work encompasses small monster sculptures and artworks on recycled glass, crafted from various found items – frequently materials commonly regarded as everyday trash. Through this artistic combination, new figures and shapes are created, some serving a practical purpose, others simply as playful objects.
